Mark D. Stewart has been practicing law in Pitt and all over eastern North Carolina for more than a decade. Originally from Johnston County, North Carolina, Mark received his undergraduate degree and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications at Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. While at Barton, Mark also served as Editor-In-Chief of the Collegiate student newspaper.
While working his way through undergraduate school, Mark also honed his cross-examination skills as a journalist and managing editor at both the Kenly News and Selma News newspapers in Johnston County.
Mark received a full scholarship to Liberty University where he earned his Juris Doctor and was National Champion of the Robert Merhige National Environmental Law Negotiation Competition.
Mark started his law career by becoming a Pitt County Assistant District Attorney. Mark prosecuted cases in both district and superior court and learned what it takes to be a trial lawyer. Mark joined forces with Tim Burch who had his own firm in Greenville, NC where they represented clients in both civil and criminal cases and became very comfortable arguing to juries on behalf of clients in all types of cases. Mark now uses his knowledge of the law, the court system, and his familiarity with the district attorney’s office for the benefit of clients of the Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor.Mark is married to Brandy Stewart who is a nurse at Vidant Hospital in Pitt County and has three children. In addition to working hard for our clients, Mark stays active in the community by volunteering his time to coach soccer, he sits on the board of directors for Family Works Ministry, has previously served as Secretary of the Pitt County Board of Elections, and is currently the Chairman of the Pitt County GOP.
